The For Film’s Sake Festival (formerly WOW), a film festival focused on showcasing female and minority filmmakers to help thrive within the Australian Film Industry has released its 2017 program.
Running later this month in Sydney, FFS will be screening various international and domestically produced films made by female-identifying artists and other minority groups, including films All About E (pictured), Bejing Being, Hell Bento, Play Your Gender, Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model, Waiting For B, Frisky, Dust Cloth, Cheer Up, as well as various short films and a special “Fright Night” dedicated to the best female horror, including Sundance-praised Bitch.
Other events include a keynote speech from Swedish Film Institute CEO Anna Serner, and an amateur fight including FFS’ Festival Director Sophie Mathisen, who describes the festival as “…unlike any other…We have married the best of film to experiences that challenge audiences to engage with female generated content in new ways, and to understand the need for equality as an audience generated concept.”
For Film’s Sake will run from April 26 – 30 around the Sydney CBD.
