In a move that has the potential to shake up the Australian subscription streaming scene – Nine & Fairfax’s Stan has – according to The Hollywood Reporter – signed a deal with CBS to become Australia’s official home for US Network Showtime.
Under the deal, Stan will have official and exclusive streaming rights to all future Showtime programming, access to the majority of its catalogue, as well as exclusive Australian rights to the name and logo. There was no indication as to the length of the deal, though the licsensing deal is described as “long-term”.
Showtime is home to long running series like Shameless – currently available through Netflix – upcoming shows like Billions, starring Paul Giamatti, and a catalogue that includes Dexter and Californication.
Stan is also the Australian home to shows like Better Call Saul and Ash vs Evil Dead.
