The Screen Makers Conference and Marketplace has announced its full program for 2018, with Every Cloud Productions’ Fiona Eagger (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) to speak on relevant issues in the industry. The event will take place from Friday the 27th to Saturday the 28th of July at Adelaide’s Mercury Cinema.

Other notable sessions include Casting for Diversity, in which casting agent Kirsty McGregor (Pacific Rim: Uprising) and actor Natasha Wanganeed (Cargo) discuss diversity on our screens, touching on perspectives from both behind and in front of the camera.

The Australian Directors’ Guild presents: ‘From F*!#king Adelaide to Hollywood’, featuring directors Scott Hicks (Shine) and Sophie Hyde (Animals), who will share their experiences in the industry, while providing advice for aspiring and future directors.

Webseries is a pathway for both emerging and diverse talent, answering questions on how to succeed in increasingly difficult screen careers. Speakers include the award winning writer Michelle Law (Homecoming Queens), MWF nominee Peter Ninos (The Big Nothing), Enzo Tedeschi (Event Zero) and Kelli Cross (Aussie Rangers).

A range of roundtables will also be available, along with an exclusive opportunity for delegates to compete in ABC iView/MRC’s Pitch-o-Rama development pitching competition, complete with a $10,000 prize.

Media Resource Centre Director Gail Kovatseff commented on the event, saying “It’s wonderful to have so many accomplished women leading our program for this year’s Screen Makers Conference. The conference delegates who come to Adelaide from all over Australia next month will enjoy outstanding opportunities to learn more about their craft and the industry, network with peers and mentors, and pitch their projects. It’s been terrific to see previous delegates get projects up with broadcasters such as ABC iview through our growing market opportunities.”
