New Suicide Squad Trailer Injects Fun Into DC’s Darkest Superhero Movie Yet

The newest trailer for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad debuted earlier today and it breaks away from the more self-serious tone of the first teaser towards something more comedic.

Set to Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, the trailer runs through the film’s cast of ‘worst-heroes-ever’ including Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis. Robbie’s Harley Quinn is the highlight here, bringing some much-needed personality and showing off the film’s slightly-wicked sense of humor.

If that first teaser for the film was for the fans, this trailer feels like one aimed at those less familiar with the source material. In fact, the incorporation of music (alongside the ensemble cast) feels like it’s very deliberately inviting comparisons to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Suicide Squad does looks a little bit ridiculous in the way that almost all comic-book movies are but this trailer sells it as the kind of ridiculous I am on-board to see play out.

Suicide Squad gets released in Aussie cinemas on 4th August.
