Brad Pitt is one of those actors who can drum up a huge amount of buzz for any project that has his name attached to it. He always delivers solid performances and is endlessly watchable. Next up for Pitt is WWII drama Fury, which sees him leading a tank crew through the tail end of the war. Joining Pitt is an impressive ensemble cast that includes Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), Shia LaBeouf (Transformers), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Australian actor Xavier Samuel (Healing). Written and directed by David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch), the film looks to be an effective balance of human drama and thrilling action. As Peña says during the featurette, the film is “a character study with action sequences”. If Ayer delivers on this front, the film might end up being a serious awards contender by the end of the year.

Here’s the offical plot synopsis:

April, 1945.  As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
