Netflix Review: Nailed It! Season Two is the perfect recipe to bake up a storm

Netflix’s original series Nailed It! has returned with another batch of six episodes and it’s as hilarious as the first serving.

Nailed It! sees three amateur home-baker’s attempts at recreating beautiful edible masterpieces in two competitive rounds for a chance to win a $10,000 prize. Don’t be fooled by the simple premise because the kitchen is where the magic and chaos happens.

Nailed It! contains all the right ingredients to be unique amongst the countless cooking and baking shows on television. While the show structure is familiar, Nailed It! relishes in not taking itself too seriously and focuses on the wholesome, sweet and most importantly fun side of baking.

Nicole Byer and Chef Jacques Torres return as the quirky hosts who bring their energetic personalities to the forefront and genuinely have a good time tasting the creations and interacting with the contestants.

Each episode covers creative and inventive themes for the ill-prepared bakers to tackle including pancake art, high tea and pop cakes (as seen in the first three episodes ‘High Society’, ‘Fictitious and Delicious’ and ‘Tailgate, Failgate’).

Nailed It! wouldn’t be without the home bakers creating a mess in the kitchen. Watching the contestants attempting to recreate the edible masterpieces is the highlight of the season, usually ending in surprising and disastrous results.

The littlest mistakes can cause major damage which makes the reveal of their kitchen creations after each round all the more nail-biting and side-splitting. What they may lack in baking skills they make up in inventiveness to win. As well as their efforts to “nail” the challenges, their enthusiasm and undeniable hard work is infectious to watch.

Stay tuned at the end of season two for a bonus bite sized episode that features a certain Fab Five as Nailed It! competitors.

Whether they nail it or fail it Nailed It! is pure fun, no baking experience required.

Review score: FOUR STARS (OUT OF FIVE)

Nailed It! season two is now streaming on Netflix.
