Netflix drops first official full length trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders

In typical late night (well for Australia anyway) fashion, Netflix has dropped the first official full length trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders as well as a release date. Now that Netflix audiences have been formally introduced to all the members of the team, The Defenders is where our street-level heroes of New York finally get to meet and come together but not without their teething issues of course.

We see Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) having a run-in with Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and getting a legal bail-out by Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). As well as Luke Cage (Mike Colter) being introduced to Danny Rand (Finn Jones) by Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson). The return of Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung) and Stick (Scott Glenn) and the introduction of Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) who appears to be the big bad villain of the season. Plus a snippet of one hell of a kick-ass hallway fight sequence. With the entire trailer all set to a wicked remix of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are”.

With the culmination of The Hand at both the end of Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 and Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 1, it’s a fair speculative guess that they will be involved and possibly connected to Alexandra, with of course Elektra fighting for them now. So our awesome foursome or as Stick calls them – the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, the smartass detective, the righteous ex-con, and the kid with the glowing fist – will need to work together to fight this next war.

Marvel’s The Defenders will land on Netflix on 18 August 2017.
