Kurt Russell officially joins Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The sequel to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy officially entered production yesterday, putting an end to rumors that Kurt Russell was set to join the cast – by completely confirming their accuracy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is being directed by James Gunn, with original cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista and Michael Rooker set to return alongside a number of new characters.

Alongside Russell, the additions to the cast include Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sully and Pom Klementieff.

“I never thought anyone was missing from our island of misfit toys, but now that these folks are here there feels like there was. We’ll have more surprises for you in the coming months. But, for now, this will have to do” said Gunn.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release in May 2017.
