Taking the stage at the MCM London Comic Con, Jesse Eisenberg confirmed that he would again assume the role of glabrous villain Lex Luthor in the upcoming Justice League film.
With the production now underway, Eisenberg has stated that he’s just waiting on the call. “They just started filming Justice League, so I’m kind of like waiting for my crack at it,” he said.
“I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, because I feel like there’s probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off. But yeah I think so, and I love it, and I love everybody who’s in it. You know, it’s a really talented group of people.”
Eisenberg has already made his fondness for the character public, last year saying Lex was “the most ideal character to play” and that he would like to develop the position even more, saying “I wanted to make these people real and relatable, interesting and engaging, and not just, you know, a kind of surface ‘bad person.”
Eisenberg will hope to restore some faith in the DC Universe after the franchise suffered critical failure with their first film (even the cast seems to agree with the critics). While most of the criticism was directed towards Snyder and Affleck, Eisenberg was not safe, fans calling for an older more muscular Lex Luther and critics calling for some versatility from the actor, who has been criticized for playing the same roles.
Zach Snyder’s Justice League will also feature Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams and Jason Momoa and is being slated for release in November 2017
