Interview: Tom Hopper talks crazy stunts on Black Sails and huge productions on Game Of Thrones ahead of Oz Comic Con Sydney

After a blink and you miss it appearance on Doctor Who, followed by playing a knight on Merlin and then jumping aboard a pirate ship with Black Sails British actor Tom Hopper landed a short but sweet role in one of the world’s biggest TV series Game Of Thrones. He’s been fortunate enough to appear in a number of popular programs and in doing so continues to grow his fanbase.

Popping by Brisbane and Sydney for Oz Comic Con, Hopper is a bit of a regular on the Australian convention circuit this now being his third, or maybe even fourth visit to our shores (to be honest we’re losing count of his visits). Ahead of his appearance at the Sydney event, we sat down for a chat about his work. In Part One of our interview we discuss his role as Billy Bones in Black Sails, one of the shows he’s worked the longest on.

In Part Two of our interview we discuss landing the gig on Game of Thrones, what it’s like working on such an enormous production and whether there were things he learnt in particular from a behind the scenes perspective. As well as what House he would be in if he wasn’t Tarly.

In Part Three of our interview Hopper discusses the crowd-funded film Leopard which he was involved with, as well as a forthcoming comedy project he’s in with Amy Schumer.

Tom Hopper will be appearing at Oz Comic Con Sydney this weekend.
ICC Darling Harbour – Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October.
