Groundhog Day has a dark side in the debut trailer for Happy Death Day

It’s nothing we haven’t seen before, from Groundhog Day to recent teen drama Before I Fall, a character wakes up to the same day repeated, every day, trying to convince everyone around them they’re in a time loop.

But what if you woke up to the same day, straight after your murder?

That’s the question surrounding Happy Death Day, a new thriller slasher flick where a college student relives her murder – in every way possible – until she finds out who her killer is.

Produced by Blumhouse, the minds behind recent horror successes Split and Get Out, it seems this thriller is a new, intense take on a classic narrative.

Happy Death Day will be in Australian cinemas later this year and is distributed by Universal Pictures.
