Gilmore Girls creators sign multi-year deal with Amazon Studios

Amazon Prime Video recently announced that critically-acclaimed talents Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino (Gilmore Girls) have entered a multi-year deal to develop projects exclusively with Amazon Studios. Sherman-Palladino and Palladino will develop television projects that will add to their unprecedented two-season green light of upcoming Amazon Original Series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which debuts this Spring on Amazon Prime Video.

Amy Sherman-Palladino began her career during season 3 of Roseanne. During her four seasons on the show, Sherman-Palladino was nominated for Emmy and Writers Guild Awards and was honoured with a Peabody. In 2000, Sherman-Palladino created the wildly popular television series Gilmore Girls. As creator, writer and executive producer, she brought to life the engaging and critically acclaimed story, with TIME magazine listing Gilmore Girls within its “100 Best TV Shows of All Time.”

Daniel Palladino began working in series television in 1989, spending three years on the classic ABC show Who’s the Boss? starring Tony Danza, Judith Light and Alyssa Milano. Palladino then spent two years in the mid-1990s on Roseanne, serving as a writer, co-executive producer, and ultimately executive producer. In 2000 he began his six year run on Gilmore Girls,  eventually delving into directing, with a total six episodes under his belt. He went on to serve in producing roles on such original series as The Return of Jezebel James and the dance drama Bunheads alongside wife Amy Sherman- Palladino.

Daniel Palladino was also executive producer of the Fox animated hit show Family Guy for its first two seasons, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program in just its first season. He had since returned to Family Guy in 2012-2013 as a consulting producer. In 2016, Palladino also aided the return of Gilmore Girls to Netflix, both writing and directing two of the four episodes for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life in which he served as executive producer, writer and director.
