First round of nominees for the 2016 AACTA Awards announced

Yes, it’s already mid-July. Which means that in a few short months we’ll be in awards season again.

Today the first round of nominees for the 6th AACTA Awards were announced in Sydney where the awards will be held in December across two separate ceremonies.

Nominees were named for three categories: Best Feature Length Documentary, Best Short Animation and Best Short Fiction Film. All categories appear to hold a keen mix of both established and blossoming Australian film-making talent.

  • REMEMBERING THE MAN – Nickolas Bird ADG, Eleanor Sharpe ADG
  • SNOW MONKEY – Lizzette Atkins, George Gittoes

NOMINEES FOR THE AACTA AWARD FOR BEST SHORT ANIMATION

  • THE ALBATROSS – Joel Best, Alex Jeremy, Alex Karonis
  • THE CROSSING – Marieka Walsh, Donna Chang
  • FEMME ENFANT – Bonnie Forsyth, Grace Lim
  • OSCAR WILDE’S ‘THE NIGHTINGALE AND THE ROSE’ – Angie Fielder, Brendan Fletcher, Del Kathryn Barton
