Final trailer for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom unleashes the beast

In the latest and final trailer release for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom we’re given a lot more insight into the plot of the anticipated sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World, and it’s looking set to be both terrifying and a little bit treading some familiar ground.

Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) recruits her pal Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to go back to Isla Nublar on a rescue mission to save the dinosaurs, especially precious bby velociraptor Blue and Slay Queen T-Rex. But oh no! They’ve been lied to by shady businessman-type Eli Millls (Rafe Spall) and the dinos are nabbed and taken to be sold at auction for weaponising …. because who needs drones when you can have trained dinosaurs go and wreck up a warzone instead? We’re finally given some quality shots of the new big bad dino the Indoraptor, basically a miniature Indominus Rex but less Rex and more Raptor. Also Dr Ian Malcolm’s (Jeff Goldblum) back to tell everybody how stupid they are making the same mistake again!

The trailer has a couple of comedic beats but it’s definitely leaning into much darker territory courtesy of J.A. Bayona’s direction, and script by Colin Tervorrow and Derek Connolly. It also feels a little like Jurassic Park: The Lost World with the whole going back to try and fix things, only to get screwed by the nefarious corporation. Whilst the whole “weaponising dinosaurs” thing tracks sequentially from Jurassic World with Dr Henry Wu (BD Wong) scarpering from Isla Nublar in Jurassic World with some embryos and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Hoskins who was attempting to steal the trained raptor squad for army use.

But let’s not kid ourselves we’re 80% here for the dinosaurs, and the new Indoraptor is clearly going to run rampant and possibly leave you with nightmares. Especially since it’s now extra drooly, extra vicious, can open doors and windows and seems impervious to bullets. Oh and there’s also this girl, who can probably give The Meg a run for its money.

It could be said that this trailer probably gives a bit away about the film but we’re still hoping for some good surprises and we are definitely excited for more Dr Ian Malcolm.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is out in Australian cinemas from 21 June 2018 through Universal Pictures Australia.
