Another installment in the Halo franchise has once again satisfied revelers of the Halo story. Much like a piece of the Halo ring floating in space, this feature is also an element that can be part of the Halo universe or a story all of its own.
Considered the “origin story” of the one of the newest characters to fall into line with the tale – this feature focuses on Lieutenant Commander Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) – an ONI operative who must team up with Sedra military.
One of the key arcs in this feature is the underlying differences between the ONI and the Sedra militants. Halo: Nightfall works well with this trope. Particularly, as this feature can operate on its own as a stand-alone science fiction film just as well as a chapter in the Halo universe, which is a relief considering the bout of spin-off series and films from science fiction genres that often lie in the dust as a hollow shell of what could’ve been a good science fiction.
Perhaps the quality of this installment comes from the director himself – Ridley Scott. A sci-fi original and a hero, he created greats like the original Aliens franchise with Sigourney Weaver and Blade Runner with Hollywood great Harrison Ford.
Scott’s experience paired with Mike Colter as the fearless Jameson Locke makes for the perfect sci fi thriller. Halo fans can also rejoice, Colter will be doing all the voice acting for the upcoming console game Halo 5: Guardians.
There are some fantastic quotes in this film, and it’s no doubt they will translate well into the game. Halo 5: Guardians is scheduled for release in October this year. Though that’s still a way off, at least Ridley Scott’s creation is there in the mean time.
