Those loveable folk at Disney have announced the return of their immensely popular Toy Story series with a fourth installment, planned to be released on June 16th 2017. The news has understandably sent waves of giddish joy throughout the world today. In addition, John Lasseter, who helmed the first two Toy Story films, will return to take the reigns for this new installment.

Reportedly the story will come from Lasseter as well as Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich, Andrew Staton, and Pete Docter – the veterans at Pixar who are behind all the classics. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack have also joined the project as writers while Pixar’s Galyn Susman is set to produce.

The news is especially welcome seeing as Disney originally stated that Toy Story would come to a conclusion at the end of the emotional third film, but we’re guessing after the third film grossed over $1 billion dollars worldwide the prospects were just too much to resist.

Toy Story 4 is currently scheduled to be released through Disney on 16 June 2017
