Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman are among the 22nd annual SAG Awards nominees

The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominees have been announced, honouring the best achievements in film and television performances for 2015. Can you believe 165,000 members of SAG-AFTRA voted? That’s a lot of TV watching and box ticking but hey, someone’s gotta do it so we can enjoy another star-studded red carpet affair.

Comedian Carol Burnett was already awarded the prestigious 2015 SAG Life Achievement Award on July 20, but it will be very interesting to see who takes out the most nods. Will Leonardo diCaprio win for his role in The Revenant? Or will this just be another nomination added to his credits list? We hope the former. He’s certainly the frontrunner at the moment and a win here should mean a Oscar win is finally in his sights. Last year, 17 of the 20 SAG nominees were up for Oscars as well – and all four winners were awarded both the SAG and the Oscar.

We also couldn’t be prouder that Aussies Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman are both up for awards; Blanchett for her role as Carol Aird in Carol and Kidman for her role as Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco.

Helen Mirren and Idris Elba, meanwhile, top the individual nominations; both are up for three awards. Following closely behind, Bryan Cranston and Louis C.K. are up for two a piece.

The SAG Awards are happening at the Shrine Auditorium on January 30, 2016. Check out the full list of nominees and see if your favourite is up for nomination.
