The gang’s all here in anticipated Avengers: Doomsday trailer

After debuting exclusively for CinemaCon audiences earlier this year, the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is now available for everyone, delivering an epic first look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most ambitious crossover since Avengers: Endgame.

Years of multiverse storytelling are set to collide as heroes from across the MCU unite against a terrifying new threat: Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. in a shocking return to Marvel. While Downey famously bid farewell to Tony Stark in Endgame, his comeback sees him stepping into one of Marvel’s most iconic villainous roles, though exactly how this version of Doom fits into the multiverse remains a closely guarded mystery.

The footage teases a sprawling conflict that brings together familiar faces from every corner of the franchise. Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor prepares for battle against Doom, while Chris Evans makes his long-awaited MCU return as Steve Rogers, reuniting with his longtime friend in one of the trailer’s biggest moments.

The multiverse also opens the door for the long-awaited arrival of the original X-Men cast into the MCU. Patrick Stewart‘s Professor Xavier, Ian McKellen‘s Magneto, James Marsden‘s Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn‘s Mystique, Alan Cumming‘s Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer‘s Beast and Channing Tatum‘s Gambit all appear as Marvel’s mutant worlds finally collide with the Avengers.

Fresh off their recent MCU introductions, both the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts also join the fight, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Lewis Pullman all returning for the ensemble adventure.

The cast is, unsurprisingly, enormous. Alongside the newcomers are returning MCU favourites including Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, Danny Ramirez and Tenoch Huerta, making Doomsday one of Marvel’s most star-studded productions to date.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Doomsday arrives in Australian cinemas on December 17th, setting the stage for the Multiverse Saga’s conclusion in Avengers: Secret Wars one year later.

If the trailer is any indication, Marvel isn’t just assembling the Avengers once again – it’s bringing together almost every corner of its cinematic universe for what promises to be its biggest battle yet.
