Australian Box Office Report: Deadpool laughs in the face of big openers

Deadpool clearly doesn’t care what enters the box office at this point. Three new films opened last week but Wade still sits on top, earning another AU$4.4 million. This brings the worldwide gross to $609 million. Deadpool is now the third highest grossing R rated film of all time in the U.S as it draws ever closer to toppling American Sniper.

In it’s second week, How to be Single is doing great with another AU$2 million.

Hail, Caesar! had a solid opening for The Cohens, making AU$1.2 million. The star studded comedy entered at third spot while Gods of Egypt came up just short of a million. The action film had an unremarkable opening (no doubt due to poor reviews) and doesn’t look like it will make its US$140 million budget costs back.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi had a very low key opening here, making just over half a million dollars. The war film is on track to becoming one of Micheal Bay’s least successful projects.
