12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor favourite for next Bond villain.

After the phenomenal critical and commercial success of 2012’s Skyfall, the pressure is certainly on for the next Bond film, currently referred to as Bond 24, to live up to the high standards set by its predecessor. Skyfall director Sam Mendes will return for the next film, as will star Daniel Craig, accompanied by new series regulars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw. Rumour has it that the 24th and 25th Bond films are to be directly linked, with a two-film story arc spanning both films. However, plot details are currently under wraps.

After scoring big time with Javier Bardem’s almost Oscar nominated performance as Skyfall baddie Raoul Silva, the Bond producers are keen to give the next film a villain with a similar acting pedigree. Current speculation is that Mendes and the producers want recent Best Actor Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor in the role. Ejiofor was absolutely stunning in 12 Years a Slave and is an incredibly solid choice for a villainous role. Let’s hope this one pans out!

The search is also currently underway for actresses to play the two Bond girls, with the film makers apparently after one British actress and one Scandinavian actress. Production is set to begin in the next few months, so we can expect casting announcements soon, along with a title for the film.

Bond 24 does not currently have an Australian release date scheduled, but is expected sometime in November 2015.
