Willy Wonka-inspired Chocolate Factory set to open at Universal Studios in Orlando

Although The Toothsome Chocolate Factory  carefully avoids official affiliation with Willy Wonka, this chocolate factory and “savory feast emporium” is planned to bring an “out-of-this-world” dining experience to the CityWalk at Universal Studios, Orlando. The factory incorporates the surrealism of Steampunk, including “smoke stacks, funky gadgetry, and staff wearing unique Steampunk fashion”, along with the dream-like style and sweet deserts of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

The deserts on offer, such as the Red Velvet and Key Lime Pie milkshake, do look appealing.

In a Chocolate Emporium, and certainly one based on Willy Wonka’s Factory, one might expect a menu limited to sugary treats, but it seems desert isn’t all that’s on the menu. Classic steak, seafood, pasta, salads and sandwiches will be served with “unique twists”. It would be interesting to see whether these “twists” involve a process of ‘desertification’. The Bacon Brittle, for instance, is a “fun twist on a breakfast favourite”, boasting chocolate covered bacon, bacon caramel, and bacon ice cream. We’ll have to wait until later this year to discover the “twists” Universal has in store for its seafood and steak dishes.
