Two Fat Monks set to switch up Farfield’s dining scene (Melbourne)

After quietly opening in December last year, Fairfield’s Two Fat Monks has launch a new menu. Co-owner Ulysses Vass has taken the past six months to assess operations and customer feed back to change the menu, open and in-house bakery with plans to open an on-site coffee roastry later in the year.

”After running the café for the first few months we’ve been able to get an idea of what Fairfield is after. We’ve been overwhelmed with requests to open for dinner, so we’ve now extended our hours on Friday and Saturday till 9pm”, Vass says.

The new menu will feature breakfast favourites such as corn fritters and mushroom benedict. Filling lunch menu items include the corn fritters stack and all-day breakfast items like the farm yard eggs with slow-cooked beef brisket. The dinner menu on Friday and Saturday combines a mix of the lunch menu with specials.

The updated menu also includes some additions the beverage menu with breakfast cocktails like the Goldentini, a mix between an espresso martini and a chaitini or the Dirty Mary, a take on a Bloody Mary.

Two Fat Monks industrial warehouse aesthetic has been designed by Urban Workroom, offering a polished yet cosy feel. Ulysses Vass has created private dining room space to cater to the demand for birthday events in the evening.

The on-site bakery has allowed for all baked goods to be made in house, including cakes, gateaux and petits fours. Plans for the new on-site coffee roastry will add another element to the interior. “The roastry will visible from the main cafe area so customers can see their beans being freshly roasted, not to mention the subtle coffee bean scent it will omit,” he says.
