Tour Talk: Alex Dyson is hosting a music-themed tour of Europe this year

Former Triple J host Alex Dyson has been tapped by ever-adventurous tour operators Busabout to help launch a music-inspired Eurotrip. Alongside the ever-growing trend of music tourism, the epic 11-day trip will scour the continent for contemporary music highlights from cities like Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.

It’ll conclude with a full four days at the German iteration of the one and only Lollapalooza, headlined by Rage Against the Machine, Miley Cyrus, DJ Snake are more. Other artists playing include Run the Jewels, J.I.D, Bishop Briggs, Denzel Curry, You Me At Six, and Blackbear.

The trip was built by Dyson using Busabout’s world-first “Adventure Planner” platform, and it’s the Author, DJ and podcaster who will be hosting the trip later this year. The customised itinerary also highlights the program’s main function, which is allowing travellers to design and book their own dream itinerary from 38 cities across 14 European countries.

“The satisfaction of designing and building your own perfect trip holiday is akin to constructing a log cabin from scratch,” said Dyson. “Brush your hands, step back, and nod gently in the summer breeze at the thing of beauty you have created.”

The whole itinerary, which starts on 29th August (in Paris) and wraps up on 8th September (in Berlin), has Dyson’s handy work all over it. Travellers heading out on the trip will even get some one-off experiences, including a themed club night led by Dyson, an exclusive party (with Dyson DJ’ing of course) in Paris, and numerous other activities.

Tom O’Hara General Manager of Busabout, said “travel as we know it is changing, with people seeking out more personalised and interest led experiences. We saw this as an opportunity to create a platform which challenged cookie-cutter tourism and allowed travellers to design their trip by combining the best parts of a fixed tour like meeting like-minded travellers, door to door transport, knowledgeable guides and on the ground support, with the freedom and flexibility to choose their own destinations, experiences and accommodation style.

Immersive cultural experiences such as a locally guided bike tour of the Dutch countryside, tour of the Paris Catacombs, trip to a fluro museum and smashing up a car in Amsterdam in true rock n roll style also feature on the itinerary.

Trips start from $1699 depending on accommodation style and optional extras and can be booked at busabout.com
