Sydney is getting its biggest burger festival yet with “Burgerpalooza”

Look, Sydney’s obsession with good burgers isn’t going anywhere so we may as well embrace it with a total and complete burger festival, right? That’s what Archie Saliba and Ben Kagan of Hashtag Burgers seem to believe, as next month they will be staging the city’s biggest and best ever burger festival at inner-west institution Vic on the Park, calling on some of the most popular burger businesses across Sydney, all of whom receive regular praise on the daily from cult-like Facebook group Fatties Burger Appreciation Society.

**UPDATE**: The event will now be held at Manning House over two days.

Hashtag Burgers just celebrated their birthday so it makes sense that they would want to go all out, and they’ll be teaming up with an impressive list to do. We’re talking Bar Luca (of Blame Canada fame), the immortal Pub Life Kitchen and their equally deft buddies at Barrio Cellar, the great Chef’s Kitchen, La Perouse gem Bare Grill, and Redfern’s fucking excellent Milk Bar by Cafe Ish.

All these burger heavyweight champs will be designing unique burgers for the event, as stated by Kagan to Broadsheet. Details of all specials will be released closer to the festival, which takes place in Manning House with six burger stalls, a pop-up James Squire bar (for beer and burger pairings), and Hashtag Burger DJs pumping out a healthy dose of hip-hop, soul, funk, and disco.

Kagan also told Broadsheet that these burger creations will be a bit “smaller than usual”, but not sliders. We’re guessing somewhere in between sliders and regular size burgers so those in attendance to get across multiple burgers.

The festival will be free entry from 11am to 9pm and operate on a coupon-based system, where you first purchase coupons and then go around eating all the burgers (which will each be under $10). There are plans to make this an annual event with an even bigger lineup of burger chefs next time around.
