Resort Review: Martinique Whitsunday Resort (Airlie Beach, Queensland)

Perched at the top of a very steep street is where you’ll find the very European looking Martinique Whitsunday Resort, sticking out amongst the dozens of resorts which line the street, with it’s big private balconies and sandstone look. It’s a truly magnificent collection of multi-room apartments and luxury accommodation to base yourself out of on a trip to Airlie Beach.

At the bottom of the street is a big Woolworths, which connects to the main strip where you’ll find bars, restaurants, retails shops, and of course, that gorgeous beach. So location is never an issue here, in fact, you may end up skipping the beach entirely and spending your whole trip lazing by the massive infinity pool which flows under the walkway and ends right on the ocean-facing side of the resort, giving you a full panoramic view of the famously beautiful turquoise waters of the Whitsundays.

Weather is never really an issue when you’re enjoying this slice of the world, but it can get excessively hot and that’s why the air conditioning in each room is strong and makes each room almost instantaneously comfortable.

Take your time and walk through the stunning French-Caribbean style building, although there isn’t much to see beyond your apartment and the pool, the main strip is where the magic happens.

You’re given a very sizeable balcony with each room, I stayed in a one bedroom apartment which gave me a homely lounge room, a massive king sized bed, a modest kitchen, and day beds on the balconies. The shower/bath flows nicely as well, a necessary feature given the average weather here.

The owners are willing to help wherever they can, planning tourist activities both common and unconventional for you on request. As such, there’s a real warmth in the service as soon as you step through that entryway.

Guests are fairly spread out and walls are thick so unwelcome noise is a non-issue here, even when there are families in the pool.

Rates start at $150 per night.

Chris was provided complimentary accommodation by Martinique Whitsunday Resort and stayed in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Ocean & Island Views Apartment
