Qatar Airways offers 100,000 free international flights to frontline healthcare workers

Qatar Airways has committed 100,000 free international flights to frontline healthcare professionals across the globe.

As the airline’s way of expressing gratitude for their heroic work during the ongoing pandemic, complimentary economy class return tickets are being offered, with full flexibility on destinations and travel dates up until the end of this year.

There’s even a +1 in it for those who take up the offer, which extends to healthcare professionals from every country in the world. The giveaway has now started and will last until 18th May at 23:59 (local time to Doha).

While one of the few airlines maintaining 24/7 operations in recent months, Qatar Airways has been a beacon of hope for those needing international travel in the face of border restrictions and citywide lockdowns. The airline’s work at the frontline of global efforts to repatriate stranded passengers and operate charter flights has received widespread praise, and it seems this giveaway is a grand gesture to reiterate that we’re all in this together.

Health professionals can register for this exclusive offer at qatarairways.com by submitting a form to receive a unique promotion code, offered on a first come, first served basis.

Each country has received a daily allocation of the available tickets, depending on its population size and staggered over the seven day period. The daily allocation will be released at 00:01 AM Doha time throughout the campaign period.

Those who are successful will receive a promotion code which they can use to book up to two complimentary Economy Class return tickets on Qatar Airways operated flights, to anywhere on the airline’s extensive global network. Tickets must be booked before 26 November, with travel valid until 10 December 2020. The tickets will be fully flexible, with an unlimited number of destination or date changes allowed without any fees. Fare and surcharges will be waived on tickets, airport taxes will apply.

“We at Qatar Airways are incredibly grateful for the commitment and hard work of healthcare professionals around the world who looked after people in these times of uncertainty”, said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker. “Their heroic display of kindness, dedication, and professionalism has saved hundreds of thousands of lives around the world.”

As a further gesture of appreciation, healthcare professionals will be offered an additional voucher with 35% discount to redeem at Qatar Duty Free retail outlets at the airline’s state-of-the-art hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha, valid for use up to 31 December 2020.

The news of this giveaway follows the announcement that Qatar Airways expect to rebuild their network to an initial 52 destinations by the end of this month, and 80 in June. This, in the expectation that Governments will begin to relax entry restrictions in the coming months. Of course, the dynamic situation is being watched closely and once flights do resume, public health measures will be paramount.
