Paul George of Oklahoma City Thunder has found himself in the middle of a pretty unexpected fashion collabo, linking Nike Basketball and Sony PlayStation with the new all-new PG-2 “PlayStation” colourway. Designed after the gaming console’s DualShock 4 controller and signature PlayStation symbols, the shoe sports a futuristic look and has been heavily detailed by designer Tony Hardman, who was also behind Paul’s PG-1 expression.
The sporty kicks feature tongues with the PG and PlayStation logos, carefully designed with a blueish glow to borrow from the signature colour gamers are used to when they power on the PS4. And you can literally power these on too; with one simple press the logos will light up with a battery charge of around 150 hours. The rest of the colours pay homage to the buttons of the Dualshock 4 controller while the best known PlayStation controller shapes (X, circle, triangle and square) are embossed in patent leather on each shoe.
The make the release even nerdier, the back heel of the left shoe has a unique barcode that contains a PSN voucher code which can be redeemed at a PlayStation Store for a special Paul George Dynamic Theme built for the PS4.
“I consider myself one of the biggest gamers in the NBA”, said George. “Ever since getting my PS2 for Christmas as a kid, my game has gone with me wherever I go, so working with PlayStation was something that felt inevitable”.
The PG2 “PlayStation” colorway drops globally on February 10, 2018 and will be available for retail and online in Australia then.
