On the Shelf: Tim Tam Mocktail Range

Arnott’s iconic Tim Tam goes through changes every now and then, necessary because demand for these timeless biscuits won’t die down. There’s something about those velvety logs of chocolate encasing various flavours that still fills tourists with envy and Australians with pride, and it was only a matter of time before the brand’s next step looks towards some classic cocktails. Really, it’s surprising that these flavours are only hitting the market now.

The Tim Tam “mocktail” range seeks to recreate “the magic of a night out without having to leave the house”, according to a press release, and though you won’t get any hit of liquid courage from these chocolate fingers, you will at least be reminded quite strongly of a few legendary flavours. The mocktail range comes with in three types; first you have the Virgin Pina Colada, which is a rich, sugary blend of fresh pineapple and creamy coconut with a white Rum flavour. Second up, you’ve got the Virgin Espresso Martini, a strong dose of coffee-flavour, a bit similar to Three Bean but with a much creamier texture, made from a blend of real roasted espresso, Vodka, and coffee liqueur in a semi-dark chocolate finger.

The fun doesn’t stop there: perhaps the best is the Virgin Strawberry Champagne, with a rich smack of strawberry that lingers long after the finger has vanished, layered with a crispy taste of Champagne inside a milk chocolate finger. There’s also the equally delicious Virgin Chocolicious Velvet Mudslide, which is only available in a bite-sized pack, full-flavoured with rich Irish cream, coffee liqueur, and Vodka flavours wrapped up in milk chocolate.

With Tim Tam now taking bold moves in their releases, the brand have successfully maintained and justified the excitement they continue to attract from snack enthusiasts around the country. The flavours are very sugary this time around, more so than previous releases, but hey, if you’re eating Tim Tam and you don’t expect sweetness, then you’re doing it wrong.

The Tim Tam Mocktail Range retail for a RRP of $3.65 where all good Tim Tams are sold. The Velvet Mudslide bite-sized pack is available for $4.39. For more info on Tim Tam biscuits head to their official website HERE
