On the Shelf: Black Hops III Midnight Pale Ale (Limited Edition)

Black Hops III Midnight Pale Ale is a very limited edition brew created by QLD’s Black Hops Brewing in collaboration with the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It may seem weird at first, almost sacrilegious, to use a craft beer to market one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time, but Black Hops Brewing have obviously put a lot of care into this project.

Tastewise, the name says it all: this is a very hoppy beer, with a strong, vibrant nose of orange that carries through to big citrus palate. the back palate is very lightly bitter, strangely going against standard with dark ales and presenting a nice little surprise at the end. Those expecting a classic dark ale may not be too fond of the change, but it’s more accessible to those who wouldn’t normally pay much attention to craft beer and just want something to down while they frag some noobs.

They are only making this one available online for a very limited time exclusively at boozebud. It’s $24.99 for a 6-pack or $74.99 for 24.
