Mövenpick introduce signature ice cream sandwiches to their Australian boutiques

As we reach the heat-wave bringing centre of Australia’s summer, Swiss ice cream brand Mövenpick has announced a range of signature Ice Cream Sandwich to be sold at their dessert boutiques. The sandwich will be made up of their high quality creamy ice cream and two rich chocolate cookies as the outer layer, giving folks in cities like Sydney and Melbourne a nice little way to cool off in the face of that unforgiving sun.

While this might seem like any other run-of-the-mill ice cream sandwich, the difference is in the quality. Mövenpick has enjoyed commercial success and a long heritage in luxury desserts since the brand was born in 1948. They’ve become known for only using natural ingredients, including their famously rich Swiss cream as well as fruit, yogurt, spices and flavours from all over the world.

For this product, Mövenpick has also chosen to work with Vanilla Zulu’s executive chef and published author, Mel Townsend, to create a combination that’s sure to delight ice cream fans across the country. The ‘bun’ of the sandwich, the chocolate cookie, was specially made so that it crumbles at first bite.

“The cookies can’t be too thick, or too dry, but they do need to be a bit crispy. It’s all about what I call ‘bite-through-ability’ – you have to be able to get all the way through the cookie to the ice cream centre,” said Mel.

From the 16th January, Mövenpick’s Ice Cream Sandwich can be purchased at $8.95 (dine in or take-away) or a stack of four is available to share at $29.95. Dessert lovers will be able to have their ice cream sandwiches filled with any Mövenpick ice cream flavour of choice.
