The most magical places aren’t always found on bustling city streets. Sometimes, you have to dart down back alleys or venture along winding country roads to uncover the real hidden gems — and Bali is full of them.
Despite having visited the Island of the Gods eight times, K-Club Ubud had somehow completely eluded me. If I’d known that just a short drive from the centre lay a stunning eco-luxury resort built around natural beauty and impeccable service, I’d have booked in a heartbeat.
Founded by Alban Kibarer, K-Club was created with the vision of helping guests reconnect with nature — without sacrificing the comfort and luxury expected from a 5-star resort. With 30 villas, 11 glamping tents, a restaurant, jungle pool, fitness centre, and spa, everything you could possibly need is right at your fingertips.

As anyone who’s visited Bali knows, traffic can be a bit hit-and-miss — and it’s only getting busier. That’s one of the things I loved about K-Club. If you’re craving peace, seclusion, and immersion in nature, you’ll find it here.
The resort is located around 10 km from central Ubud, with complimentary shuttles running regularly. Most days it took about 20–25 minutes to get into town, though one particularly rainy evening it did stretch to nearly an hour. That said, the famous Tegallalang Rice Terrace is only 2 km away, and Tirta Empul Temple and Holy Springs just 6 km — both are well worth a visit.
Design

The design is what sets K-Club apart. Every element feels as though it’s been sculpted into the forest, rather than built upon it. The thatched roofing, high ceilings, and native landscaping pay homage to traditional Balinese architecture, while sleek touches like infinity pools and elegant interiors offer a sense of elevated comfort.
Each villa and tent is positioned to maximise either jungle or rice field views, with privacy and serenity in mind. Having been awarded Best Luxury Eco Resort, it’s clear the team has thoughtfully incorporated sustainable and eco-friendly materials throughout the entire design.
Rooms

We had the pleasure of experiencing two types of accommodation during our stay: the Sensual Infinity Pool Tent and the Two-Bedroom Luxury Pool Villa overlooking the rice paddies.
The Kanva tents are K-Club’s take on glamping — with a major emphasis on luxury. We arrived to an in-ground hot tub sprinkled with floating petals, an infinity pool looking out over the jungle, and the dreamiest four-poster bed, veiled in sheer billowing fabric. Soft jazz floated from the speakers as our lovely butler showed us how to unzip the back of the tent to reveal our star-lit outdoor shower. Though technically a tent, it offered all the modern luxuries: air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a coffee machine, fridge, water filter, and a decadent selection of local snacks.
The two-bedroom villa had a more traditional Balinese villa feel, with an open-plan living/kitchen area, private pool, soaring ceilings, and expansive ensuites in each bedroom. Clean, airy, and tranquil, it was the perfect place to slow down, reflect, and soak in the view.
Food & Drink
Akar Restaurant (photo: supplied by K-Club)
Akar Restaurant was a highlight. With its sparkling tablecloths, soft lighting, and bamboo fixtures, it felt like stepping into a celestial sanctuary where your senses take centre stage. Focused on a farm-to-table concept, the menu features organic produce and vibrant, flavourful dishes. While our three-course menu wasn’t overly vegan-friendly at first glance, the chef was more than happy to accommodate — a special shoutout to Arista, the restaurant manager, who went above and beyond to ensure our dietary needs were met with care and creativity.
For lunch, we headed to Kabana Jungle Pool Club — a multi-level oasis of glistening blue pools nestled amongst lush greenery. Think fresh organic vegetables, coconuts straight from the tree, hand-pressed juices, and hearty, nourishing meals.
Amenities

The walk down to Mekar Spa alone is enough to take your breath away. Each treatment room is housed within a thatched pod suspended among the trees, connected by winding walkways with sweeping jungle views. Treatments follow the same organic philosophy as the food — we had avocado face masks made fresh from the kitchen!
If your private pool doesn’t quite cut it, you can swim in one of the jungle club pools, join a yoga class, hit the fitness centre, or explore the area by bike.
Service

From the moment we checked in, we were added to a WhatsApp group with our 24-hour butler — on hand for anything we needed. Whether arranging shuttle transfers into town or requesting buggy pickups from our villa to the restaurant (the resort is huge, promise we weren’t being lazy!), our butler responded almost instantly.
This level of service was truly exceptional. The entire team were warm, genuine, attentive, and always up for a friendly chat. Their hospitality elevated our entire experience and made us feel right at home.

On an island like Bali, where new resorts and villas open frequently, it can be hard to know which stays satisfy all types of travellers. K-Club truly ticks all the boxes. It offers an unbeatable blend of luxury, privacy, sustainability, and genuine connection to nature — especially through the uniquely immersive Kanva glamping tents.
If you’re seeking a retreat where you can unwind, slow down, and experience the soul of Ubud — K-Club is not just worth it, it’s easily one of the most essential stays in Bali.
