Icebergs Dining Room and Bar announces new Natural Wine series (Sydney)

While Maurice Terzini plans to reveal a big refresh to Surry Hills iconic Dolphin Hotel in the coming weeks, he’s been busy preparing a new food and wine series – titled “Bondi Natural” – at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, aiming to highlight some of Australia’s most influential Natural Wine producers. Planned across five weeks, the world renowned venue will host different producers while their drops will be paired with menus designed by Head Chef Monty Koludrovic.

“Over the last few years I’ve been fortunate enough to be exposed to the world of natural wines and once again, after 30 years, I continue to learn,” said Terzini. “Natural wines tell you a lot about where they are from, the climate, the soil, the terroir. They also leave me feeling much better the next day if I end up having one glass too many.”

Highlighting the different minimal intervention makes for wine, the Natural Wines series will make a strong case for using no chemicals on grapes, and as few additives as possible in the bottle, helped along with a variety of bruschetta and pastas.

The first event will take place on Thursday 9th June with producers Tom Shobbrook and Anton Von Klopper from South Australia, invited to showcase their lively wines alongside a choice of Marinated Kingfish Bruschetta with beetroot and anchovy, or Broad Bean Bruschetta with lemon, pecorino and herbs. Pasta will be a choice of Spaghetti with Mussels, Tomato, Saffron, and Crispy Ink or Spaghetti with Lamb Ragu, Olive, Artichoke, and Sorrel. A dessert of Tiramisu Crack will also be available as an option special for $15.

Each event will be priced at $50 per person and include 1 x choice of Bruschetta, 1 x choice of Spaghetti, and 2 x tasting glasses of wine from the Natural Wine Producer. Each event will bring in a different food selection inspired by the respective producer and their style.
