Our Elms Wing room is clean, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and the heating – which in the Southern Highlands is quite important across the winter months – is great. As it’s an old house, there’s a bit of charming creaking that you can hear while guests walk around in their rooms, but it’s nothing to get upset about.
Hickory’s Restaurant & Bar
Breakfast at Peppers Craigieburn is served buffet-style at Hickory Restaurant & Bar with an array of hot staples like eggs, bacon, sausages, and hash browns. Cereal, fruits, and juices are available as well for those who prefer a sweeter start to the day.
Executive Chef of Hickory’s Warrick Brook is dedicated to local, seasonal, and sustainable produce. While we don’t dine in the restaurant, we stay at Peppers for the Pie Time festivities, so we enjoy a lamb pie and a glass of Shiraz by the cosy fireplace as part of our Pie Time Stays Package. What To Do in Bowral
Bradman Museum & International Cricket Hall of Fame
One of the most well-known attractions in Bowral is the Bradman Museum. Adjacent to the Bradman Oval – where a young Donald Bradman practiced his skills that eventually made him the greatest batsman the world had ever seen – the museum takes visitors on an interactive journey through the history of cricket.
As someone with zero knowledge about the sport, the guided tour provided a more in-depth insight into the world of cricket. Tina our guide previously played for Australia – now that’s as knowledgeable as a tour guide can get.
Food in Bowral
There’s no shortage of cafes in Bowral from Stones Patisserie and The Mill to The Bowral Alternative Tea House. But for an incredible fine dining experience focusing on the ingredients of the local landscape, it’s worth checking out Biota Dining. I’ve dined at Biota for the dinner degustation, brunch, and at the bar – all were great.
Trike Tour

The driver will take you anywhere you desire or suggest a destination. We’re taken to the quaint town of Berrima before we whiz to the Mount Gibraltar Lookout on our tour. Pro tip: in winter, I’d recommend wearing lots of layers and gloves if you have them. I didn’t have gloves with me and after the tour, I couldn’t feel my hands for a good hour because of the wind chill. It was worth it though.
