Fancy Hanks team open Knuckles BBQ and Sandwiches Bar (Melbourne)

Bourke Street BBQ joint Fancy Hanks isn’t all that’s new for the business; sticking to their roots the team have seen an expansion these past few weeks, opening up a new concept opposite the Victoria Markets by the name of Knuckles BBQ Sandwiches & Bar. Gutting the original Queen Street location of Fancy Hanks, they have sharpened their focus on wood-smoked BBQ sandwiches, fried chicken, and sides after two successful years running under the original name.

“Knuckles provides the perfect homage to Fancy Hank’s,” said co-owner and chef Mike Patrick. “Tasty food, cold beer, no frills, and a let-your-hair-down kind of atmosphere.”

The venue has been kept pretty much the same, those heading along will be able to dine out on a huge balcony overlooking the busy markets while they chew through options from the new sandwich menu including a Philly Cheese Steak served with sweet onions, peppers and gravy, and a classic Chopped Pork with Kentucky style slaw and kewpie mayo. Head along on any day between 4pm and 7pm and you can wash these down with $7 pints of Geelong brew Furphy.

Meanwhile Fancy Hanks prepare their new Bourke Street location which will be complete with a rooftop bar they’re calling Good Heavens, designed as a “summer in Palm Springs” drinking and partying destination with DJs, bar food, and 80s inspired cocktails. Downstairs where all that slow-cooked magic happens will have space for 100 diners with table service and a few new twists to their American BBQ menu.

They aren’t taking bookings for the new Fancy Hanks just yet but keep an eye out on the official website HERE.
