Ananas Bar & Brasserie fans bemoaning the departure of their favourite restaurant from The Rocks precinct don’t have to wait for its reopening in Darling Harbour in September to munch on their celebrated French cuisine.  Café Ananas will take over sister restaurant Café Nice‘s location at 2 Phillip Street.  It’s a name and signage change for the Phillip Street restaurant, as Café Ananas’ menu will draw inspiration from the original Ananas Bar & Brasserie in The Rocks as well as some favourites from Café Nice, making it a true hybrid of the two.

Just a short stroll from the Sydney Opera House and offering views of the Harbour Bridge, the new look restaurant’s location in the historic end of Sydney’s central business district is perfectly placed amongst the areas wine bars and pubs and offers those working the area a wonderful new choice for cocktails and wines.

The menu will feature a prix-fixe (fixed price) lunch menu of three courses for $45, along with some pre-theatre dining options – perfect for those heading to performances at the nearby Opera House. Café Ananas will also continue the brand’s famed long Sunday Champagne brunch.

The dessert menu will be just as exquisite, featuring the Opera Moderne, a classic layered coffee cake made with chocolate hazelnut ice cream. Other desserts include the Le Chocolat, featuring tonka bean ganache and caramel crémeux and tarte tatin.

The original Ananas Bar & Brasserie will re-open in Darling Harbour in September, coinciding with the launch of the new International Convention Centre Sydney.
