The Tineco Floor One S6 Pro Extreme makes small, yet solid improvements over its predecessor

We recently took the time to review the Tineco Floor One S5 Combo and were pleasantly surprised with the results. The next iteration, the Floor One S6 Pro Extreme takes every opportunity to bolster the multiple features of its predecessor, ultimately making it a success for anyone looking to pick up a vacuum and mop combo for their hard floors.

We’re going to rely relatively heavily on that previous Floor One S5 Combo review to highlight some of these improvements, although it’s worth noting this is almost better in every way.

Design

Right out of the box, the Floor One S6 Pro Extreme is super easy to assemble, only requiring users to plug in the top handle directly into the lower unit. Along with the unit itself, you’ll find a charging stand, an additional roller brush head, a cleaning brush and a filter, all of which can be stored on the aforementioned stand.

It works in very much the same way as the Floor One S5 Combo did, with the refillable water tank on the back of the lower barrel, and the dirty water tank up front. It’s relatively easy to take apart to refill and clean when needed, with only a cap full of Tineco’s floor solution required per fresh tank.

It’s a little more streamlined than the S5 Floor Combo as it doesn’t include the smaller handheld vacuum, but is still admittedly heavy when moving it about, particularly when lifting onto the charging stand. The LCD however, is bright and clear, making it a breeze to use when switching between multiple modes, with dedicated power, mode switch and self-cleaning buttons, located on top of the handle.

Performance

Tineco’s new marketing label known as MHCBS, is a pending trademark, in which its meaning is admittedly unknown. Like Tineco’s iLoop technology, it does however apply to the inner workings of the unit, which continuously cleans the roller brush with fresh water and solution as you clean, meaning your floors will never come into contact with the dirty roller at any given time. It doesn’t necessarily apply to anything you can see upfront, but it’s nice to know that the brush is getting some treatment to avoid regular cleans and washes down the track.

Like the Floor One S5 Combo, the brush spins at 450RPM and the unit provides 35 minutes of runtime, which I found to be mostly accurate. It also includes four modes, namely Auto, Max, Ultra and Suction. In any mode, this thing performs incredibly well. I’ve got a Labrador and Golden Retriever in the house at times and the Floor One S6 Pro Extreme was picking up all hair and cleaning muddy paw prints with ease.

The Auto mode is certainly the way to go here, adjusting the amount of water and suction on the fly. The Max mode will increase the power from the standard 120W to 150W, cranking up the spray levels to tackle tougher stains. The Ultra mode uses an additional electrolysis system that helps to keep the water tank clean, although I didn’t notice a difference in performance when compared to its Max mode. Finally, the Suction mode holds back the water, turning it into a regular vacuum and also increasing battery life to around 40 minutes.

The standard 35 minutes of runtime is pretty much spot on when used in Auto mode, and I found this was more than enough to clean the floorboarded areas in my house.  Max and Ultra modes will drop this considerably to around 15-20 minutes, but will not be necessary unless you’ve got some tough stains to clean, so I would recommend using these modes intermittently in the first place.

Thankfully, the on-board LCD makes it super easy to change between these modes on the fly and the admittedly loud, yet clear voice commands make it easy to keep track of what you’re switching to as well. But unlike those commands, the unit itself is super quiet when compared to most standard vacuums.

The only real gripe here is the overall maintenance. It’s easy enough to empty, refill and clean, but the provided charging stand will prompt the unit’s voice commands to either initiate a self-clean or empty the water tank, which feels like it happens after almost every clean. It doesn’t take too long but takes time nonetheless.

It’s just a little annoying that you’re using solution and water when cleaning your floors, only to pop it back on the charging stand to clean itself and use more water and solution. Then you not only have to empty the water tank from your daily clean but empty it again after the self-cleaning process has completed. There’s plenty of room in the tank for 2-3 cleaning cycles, but you’ll want to get ahead of it for the sake of longevity.

Software

We took an excerpt from our Floor One S5 Combo review, as we believe the available software applies to the Floor One S6 Pro Extreme in very much the same way:

“It’s also compatible with the Tineco Life app, a feature that I admittedly was not aware of until later in this review period. While it can’t control the functionality of the vacuum itself, it can do a couple of cool things.

Firstly, it can detect and track how often you’ve used it per day and even track how dirty the water you’ve collected is, thanks to the vacuum’s iLoop Smart Sensor technology. Secondly, it can also be used to alter the volume and even silence the voice prompts featured and even download those prompts in various languages.

It’s not the flashiest app or even a necessary one for most users, but I can commend the added functionality and flexibility that this provides, should you want to keep on top of your cleaning schedule.”

Verdict & Value

The Tineco Floor One S6 Pro Extreme is easy to assemble out of the box and use daily if you don’t mind keeping it clean. The vacuum and mop hybrid will certainly keep the floors clean and shiny, with the Auto mode making for some of the most consistent cleaning we’ve seen from this range yet.

The 35-minute battery life is certainly generous enough for a few cycles over my hardwood floors, although I imagine this would change depending on the user and household. While the need to consistently self-clean and refill can be a little annoying at times, there’s no doubt it translates to the breezy experience that replaces your vacuuming and mopping having to be completed as separate household chores.
