The Tineco Carpet One Cruiser makes for a smarter, easier way to clean your carpets

When it comes to home cleaning tech, we’re constantly asking for devices that are smarter, lighter, and less of a pain to maintain. Enter the Tineco Carpet One Cruiser, a sleek and intelligent carpet cleaner that might just make you rethink how often you deep-clean your floors (in my case, definitely not enough!).

Retailing at A$999, the Carpet One Cruiser is priced at the premium end of the consumer carpet cleaner market. But once you factor in its impressive list of features from self-propelling cleaning to automated drying and self-cleaning, the value becomes clear.

It’s a machine designed not just to clean, but to make the entire experience feel far less like a chore. It all ties together with the Tineco Life app, which to be fair is bare bones, but does enough to keep an eye on water levels and adjust the audio of the voice on the machine itself.

Design

Standing at 41.5 inches tall and weighing just under 13kg, the Carpet One Cruiser is more compact than it looks, with a narrow 11-inch width and slender stick-style handle that makes storage easy.

It’s dressed in a clean white-and-black colour scheme with subtle purple accents, and comes with a generous range of accessories: a 2-in-1 nozzle, accessory hose, cleaning tools, self-cleaning tray, and both pre-treatment and cleaning solution.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed with what goes where and when, but the app and instructions book make this fairly easy to figure out, and there are step by step guides to make sure you dont miss anything.

Design-wise, it’s the small decisions that stand out. Most buttons are smartly positioned at the top of the handle for convenience. The clean and dirty water tank combo is brilliantly compact and easy to detach, making refilling and emptying fast and mess-free.

Setup & Software

The Tineco Life app is perhaps the weakest link in the package. It offers a basic overview of cleaning modes, lets you change the voice settings (yes, the cleaner talks to you), and facilitates Wi-Fi setup.

However, at the time of testing, the app lacked a functional manual and the cleaning history didn’t work. While Tineco assures that updates are coming, the app feels like an optional extra rather than an integral part of the user experience.

Thankfully, the machine is intuitive enough that you won’t miss the app. Initial setup involved attaching the handle, filling the water tank with two capfuls of the included cleaning solution, and pressing a button. That’s it. A few minutes later, we were ready to roll.

Performance

Despite its sophisticated design, using the Tineco Carpet One Cruiser is refreshingly simple. In Auto mode, the cleaner adjusts water flow and suction based on how dirty your carpet is. You can manually select the carpet type in the app (including material and pile length), but once cleaning begins, the motorised brush and intelligent sensors do most of the work.

One standout feature is the iLoop smart ring display at the top of the machine. Red indicates dirt; blue means clean. While it’s visually appealing, its utility is questionable—the ring often showed both red and blue in freshly cleaned areas, which left us second-guessing whether we were truly done. It’s a cool idea, but not as informative as it could be.

Still, the actual results were impressive. On heavily used children’s bedroom carpet, the Carpet One Cruiser lifted stains, fluffed up fibres, and made the whole room look noticeably fresher. Though not designed to replace a vacuum, the machine does include a dry debris tank, which helped capture any particles picked up during wet cleaning.

Having a pet who is currently shedding her very thick coat, the Carpet One Cruiser made cleaning her bed and favourite spots on the carpet much easier. It was the perfect time to use the detachable hose attachment to get the perfect clean.

Drying Mode & Self-Cleaning

Switching to Drying mode is as simple as pressing a button. The cleaner heats up to  75 degrees Celsius and blows warm air into the carpet, helping it dry in just minutes. Again, the iLoop ring is used here (red is wet, blue is dry), but much like during cleaning, it’s best treated as a general guide rather than gospel.

The self-cleaning mode, however, is a revelation. Once the cleaner is docked into its oversized tray, it automatically rinses and vacuums its own roller brush, inlet and cover. Heated air is then used to dry the brush—no musty smells, no mould, no gunky mess. The machine even prompts you to run the cycle when you’re done.

It’s the kind of thoughtful feature that makes you wonder why this isn’t standard across all carpet cleaners.

Extra Modes & Manual Use

Beyond Auto and Drying modes, there are three other settings:

  • Max mode for heavy-duty cleaning
  • Carpet Care mode for more delicate floors
  • Accessory mode, activated automatically when you connect the included hose and nozzle

The accessory tools come in handy for spot treatments, upholstery, and tight spaces. With a simple trigger, you can spray, scrub, and suck up moisture in one pass.

Maintenance & Noise

This is where the Carpet One Cruiser really shines. Maintenance is minimal. Just dump the tank, run the self-cleaning cycle, and you’re done. A voice prompt ensures you never forget.

The cleaner isn’t any louder than a typical vacuum during use, though the self-cleaning cycle is noticeably noisier, especially in the drying phase. Voice prompts are loud enough to hear over the motor, but can be adjusted in the app (when first booting the vacuum up, they are particularly loud).

Verdict & Value

If you’re tired of lugging around a bulky machine, dealing with soggy carpets, or manually scraping gunk from your cleaner’s rollers, the Tineco Carpet One Cruiser is a game-changer.

While the app still needs work and the smart display could use more clarity, the cleaner itself delivers exceptional performance, intelligent features, and an incredibly user-friendly experience.

From self-propelled movement to self-cleaning mechanics, it reimagines carpet care for modern homes. The price is steep, yes, but with this much convenience and polish, the Carpet One Cruiser justifies the investment.
