Powerful portable speaker Sonos Move gets a new colour and software update

It hasn’t even been a year since Sonos released its first portable speaker, the Sonos Move, but the ever-reliable brand has already given the portable device a software upgrade and a new colour.

The well-reviewed battery-powered smart speaker is now available in a stylish Lunar White colourway, bringing a different aesthetic to the company’s most versatile speaker to date and completing the brand’s usual black-white dichotomy.

New with this iteration is a recent software update which boosts the original’s 10 hours of battery life to 11. Sure, that’s not much of a bump, but an extra hour can make all the difference when it comes to outdoor, adventure-friendly audio.

Using both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the completely wireless Move distinguishes itself amongst Sonos’ other speakers (like the Sonos One SL) with its sturdy build meant to stand up even in harsh conditions.

The IP56 rating ensures the Move can handle drops, sandy beaches, sweat and most kinds of outdoor activity. Both the Lunar White and the original Shadow Black colours are also UV-resistant, so overheating isn’t an issue.

As with pretty much all of Sonos’ speakers, the attractive monochromatic body is as design-forward and minimalistic as you’d want from a contemporary audio device. This makes it look just as good in the home as it does on the go.

You’ll be reaching deep for this one though. The Sonos Move retails for A$649. Australian customers can pre-order the Lunar White now from sonos.com ahead of its July 7th release date. The Shadow Black colour (which now has the same software update detailed above) is available now.
