ASUS lifts the lid on its first Windows Copilot+ PC with the AI-Powered Vivobook S 15 laptop

At an event in Sydney this week, ASUS provided a world-first opportunity to get up close and personal with their all-new Copilot+ PC offering – the Vivobook S 15.

Coming hot off the heels of Microsoft’s recent Copilot+PC announcement, ASUS has made a promising first leap into the world of on-device AI. Optimised to support the slew of promising new Windows 11 AI features, the Vivobook S 15 is a curiosity-peaking industry first.

So, what’s it like?

Design and Build

The Vivobook S 15 has an incredibly premium look, feel and finish. With an all-metal, ultra-sleek profile at 14.7 mm thick and weighing a mere 1.42 kg, the Vivobook S 15 is portable without compromising on durability.

 

Display and Audio 

With a 3K, 120 Hz ultra-large OLED display, the S 15 provides a premium visual experience paired with a high-quality Harmon Kardon audio system.

Connectivity and Battery 

The Vivobook S 15 is well-equipped with a variety of ports, including two USB4, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, HDMI, an audio combo jack, and a microSD slot. It also supports WiFi 7 and promises up to 18 hours of usage.

The Engine Room 

At the heart of the Vivobook S 15 is the Snapdragon X Elite processor, a dedicated AI chipset to deliver peak performance on multi-core tasks. The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU capable of 45 TOPS is set to ensure peak AI performance running directly on-the-device, rather than through the Cloud. It’s equipped with a 1TB SSD and 32GB of RAM.

One of the standout aspects of the Vivobook S 15 is its suite of AI-powered features. These include:

  • AiSense IR Camera: Detecting user presence to adjust the display brightness accordingly, dimming when you look away and brightening when you return. It also locks and unlocks the laptop based on your proximity, enhancing both security and convenience.
  • StoryCube: An AI-powered digital asset management tool that automatically organizes RAW photos and videos.
  • Recall: A memory assistant that can track down projects, apps, documents, or messages using a simple prompt.
  • Adaptive Dimming: Recognizes when the user looks away and dims the screen to save power.
  • Adaptive Lock: Automatically locks the laptop when you move away and unlocks it upon your return.
  • AI Noise Cancellation: Reduces background noise during meetings and calls for clearer audio.

Additionally, the Vivobook S 15 supports Windows Studio Effects, which automates lighting adjustments and noise removal during video calls, as well as Microsoft’s Live Captions for real-time, AI-powered subtitles.
