“Woman’s World 2.0” brings Miss Blanks & Jesswar in to add more fire to Okenyo’s original

OKENYO. Oh, OKENYO.

For a woman who has been continuously making excellent moves in music for years now, it’s been wonderful seeing the Sydney performer’s star rise more publicly through 2017. Her single “Woman’s World” was quick to wrap fans up and alert newcomers to her presence as part of the strong community of women pushing Aussie music – in particular R&B and hip hop – forward and recently, she’s gone and added another layer of power on top of the original.

Connecting with Miss Blanks and Jesswar, “Woman’s World” became subject to a makeover, boosting the already strong vibes and messages of the original in adding some extra fire from the two Brisbane based lyricists. After meeting at BIGSOUND this year, the trio connected and like something out of Captain Planet, combined their forces in making something bigger and rightfully so, something arresting in its delivery.

“I wanted to create a new version of the song that didn’t just feature an artist but gave the song more agency and relevance.” says OKENYO. “With the three of us it’s power in numbers, individual voices standing together strong.”
