Why Wine Machine is the party we all deserve after 2020

There’s no doubt that 2020 was a gruelling year. It was especially tough for our friends in the music industry, but things are finally coming back to normal. Artists are making new music, gigs are back on – and what we’ve all been waiting for, festivals are officially allowed to run once more.

The festival I’ve got in mind is Australia’s well-loved wine and music celebration “Wine Machine”, which is back on for its fourth year of wining, dining and dancing.

Having attended in 2019, and with our site covering the event in WA in October, I’m especially excited to get the opportunity to go again. Wine Machine 2019 was an amazing experience. The acts were sensational, with dance favourites ranging from Touch Sensitive to Crooked Colours.

Best of all, it was set in a beautiful vineyard, with views for days. I appreciated the cohesion of the two: when I wasn’t dancing, I could sit, relax, maybe get something to eat. Food-wise, there was plenty to choose from. Wine Machine’s food vendors had something for everyone, with all dietary options covered. From memory, I had a falafel that really hit the spot.

I also really appreciated the choice of beverages available. Whilst it’s called Wine Machine, there was plenty to choose from, with everything from white wine to pink gin. There was a big focus on sustainability too, with wine and gin being sold in beautiful glass bottles.

Those are just some of the reasons why I’m so excited for the 2021 revamp. That, and of course, the opportunity to hear this year’s line-up.

This year’s line-up in the Yarra includes our beloved Hot Dub Time Machine, Bag Raiders, Northeast Party House, Don West and one of our all time favourites, The Jungle Giants. Thanks to them, we’ll be given the opportunity to dance with friends to ‘Heavy Hearted’, ‘Baby Got Back’ and ‘Shooting Stars’.

Alongside curating a fun and dance-worthy line-up, organisers have put a lot of effort into making the festival supportive of local Aussies. We can expect local chefs and farmers to present their best, catering to all dietary requirements, and providing food that’ll really hit the spot. Let’s hope they’ll have those falafels again!

Following a WA event at the end of last year, and with the limitations of Covid in mind, Wine Machine’s circuit is limited to three cities in the coming months. On the 20th and 21st of March, it will be held in Yarra Valley. And on the 27th there will be two simultaneous events – one in Commonwealth Park in Canberra, which will feature Lime Cordiale, Peking Duk and more, and the other in the Swan Valley, WA.

With plenty to eat, drink and dance to, Wine Machine promises a great time, and after the grim 2020, isn’t that all we could ask for?

Tickets for the Wine Machine are available on their website.
