Track of the Week: Syrup “Catch Your Flow” (2021)

Catch Your Flow

Brisbane alt-pop duo Syrup are back with their latest single “Catch Your Flow”. Co-produced by Slum Sociable‘s Ed Quinn, “Catch Your Flow” is a certified bop, and should be added to your playlists post haste.

Tackling topics of uncertainty and longing for a ‘sign’ from the universe, the new single blends the duo’s now signature sound with some classic early noughties electro-pop sounds. It’s the band’s first release of 2021, and comes with a playful animated music video, created by vocalist Henry, in tow.

According to the duo: “”Catch Your Flow” is a song about uncertainty. At its root, the song explores the precariousness of thought. The patterns of thinking, moods and mental dispositions which we all face. How one can fall into a mood and what caused it to be… It’s the awkward questions that arise from not understanding why or how… It’s also how we escape this, the process of discovering and evolving”

“Catch Your Flow” is another positive step in Syrup’s development. It’s also clearly the sound of a band who are confident in their sound and style. For good reason; “Catch Your Flow”, is such a joyful listen, it’s bright, bold, and so much fun, with all those little elements of disco and funk that we’ve come to love from the duo included. Thoughtful and funky, that’s the Syrup style.

“Catch Your Flow” is out now. You can keep up to date with Syrup on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
