Track of the Day: The Holy Smoke “Lay Your Head Down” (2019)

WA trio The Holy Smoke have just dropped their debut EP The River, and it’s filled with some of the most soulful folk music you’re likely to hear this year. To celebrate the release, we’re naming their single “Lay Your Head Down” as our track of the day – just a little teaser of what you’ll find on the full EP!

Formed in 2016 at a women’s creative retreat, the band, consisting of Rose Parker, Karlee Rae and Delilah Rose, have scored slots at Nannup Music Festival, Harvey Dickson’s Rodeo, and Mandurah CrabFest – the latter in support of Eskimo Joe.

Of the EP, Delilah says:

“…this small collection of songs, quite unintentionally, all have something to do with water. During the making of this EP we worked hard and squeezed in sessions to get it done so we had no time to sweat the small stuff. We really had to go where the water was flowing and be in the moment. And that’s what we delighted in.”

With their blend of gospel, country, folk, and soul, it’ll only take a listen or two before you’re swept away by the stunning harmonies of The Holy Smoke. Test the waters below now!

The Holy Smoke will be taking a break for the rest of the year, as one of the members welcomes a new addition to the family (congrats!!!) but you can stay up to date with all things The Holy Smoke via their Facebook!
