Track of the Day: RÜFÜS DU SOL “Underwater” (2018)

Building towards their new album Solace, the unstoppable RÜFÜS DU SOL have today released their new single “Underwater”. Giving us deeper insight into their third album, which it said to be largely influenced by a contrasting Californian landscape, the complex and beautifully layered track is a noticeable step forward for the Aussie-bred trio who are currently in the midst of a world tour overflowing with sold-out shows from L.A to London.

A huge push for their sonic storytelling, “Underwater” is as pulsating as their previous releases but balances that beautifully with a soft atmosphere that is as tender as it is euphoric. It’s rightfully being described as a glimpse at the band’s on-going evolution, a compelling follow up to “No Place” that should easily slot in as a live favourite during this tour. Hopefully we get to hear it on Aussie shores soon.

On the upcoming album the trio had this to say:

“It feels like a new RÜFÜS. We are inspired by our new home out here, by the people we’ve met and the music we’ve heard along the way. We’ve got a refreshed sense of ambition and cannot wait to share our creation with the world.”

Keep up to date on the band’s movements around the world over on their Facebook page.
