Track of the Day: Riley Pearce “Eastbound” (2018)

On Friday, WA Singer-Songwriter Riley Pearce released his new EP Eastbound. If that wasn’t enough, currently he’s somewhere in Europe finishing off a run of shows that has seen him driving around the UK and Europe since May and play at the likes of The Great Escape, Latitude and Deer Shed Festival. Not to mention solo shows across the continent. So it’s fair to say 2018 is going pretty well for Pearce (even with the odd van break-down factored in).

With his return to Australia imminent, he’s today announced a short national tour in support of the EP kicking off at BIGSOUND Festival in Brisbane in September, with dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle to follow.

‘Eastbound’, the title track from the EP, might not have been given a single release just yet, but it’s an utter gem. Atmospheric and heartfelt, the song perfectly showcases Pearce’s hushed vocals, not to mention his ability to craft songs that are relatable and have an emotional honesty and maturity that bely his youth. It’s the kind of song you know, given the right setting, will surely pack an emotional punch live.

Follow Riley on his official website and Facebook, and be sure to check out those tour dates:

4th – 6th Sep
Bigsound – Brisbane, QLD

Fri 7th Sept
Lansdowne – Sydney, NSW

Sat 8th Sept
