Prolific Gamilaraay artist Thelma Plum is on the road for her first-ever acoustic tour. Performing in a duo, she will be playing 20 shows across Australia, captivating audiences with her enchanting vocals, insightful and raw lyrics, accompanied by just the strum of acoustic guitars.
Following the release and success of Thelma’s last album I’m Sorry, Now Say It Back in 2024, which was awarded ‘Best Pop Release’ at the ARIAs, she’s teased that she is now working on a new record.
Thelma shared, “I actually can’t believe that this is the first time I’ve done an acoustic tour. When I started out playing shows, it was just me and a guitar, but it’s been a long time since I’ve performed like that. It’s been a big year, I am working on a new record, and it feels like the perfect time to pack up the songbook and play some intimate shows with my friend Toby and let the songs and the stories behind them breathe! I hope to see you at one of the shows!”
Her extensive accolades don’t end there. She also received 7 ARIA nominations for album Better In Black in 2019, with the song “Better In Blak” winning her the Vanda and Young ‘Song Of The Year’ award and placing in the top 10 of Triple J’s Hottest 100, the highest ever placement for an indigenous artist at the time. Not to mention playing sold-out tours, major Australian festivals and just recently supporting Vacations in North America for their Holy Grail tour.
Supporting Thelma’s tour is Mia Wray, a soulful Melbournian pop singer who’s recently dropped new single “Isn’t It Funny”, following her debut album hi, it’s nice to meet me, which was released last year.
Thelma’s intimate, stripped backed shows will be taking place throughout July and August, nationally. Some dates are already sold out, and the rest are selling fast!
