Aussie Musos gear up to protest against Radio National music program cuts

Australian musicians and Radio National listeners have already gotten together in Sydney this afternoon to protest against the imminent axing of six RN music programs: The Daily PlanetThe Inside SleeveThe Live SetThe Rhythm DivineJazztrack, and Soundpost. In a pleas to the ABC Board and management to reverse their decision, the protests are happening right round the country over the next few days – the axing of these programs limits the benefits to regional listeners in being able to connect with music and programs they’d not normally have the opportunities to access.

Musicians and RN listeners are encouraged to participate in the protests tomorrow (December 3rd) and next Thursday (December 8th), as well as signing the petition against the axing HERE.

Emmi wins MTV Brand New title and is writing music for J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

Singer songwriter Emmi has won the hotly contested MTV Brand New 2016 title after spending 10 weeks battling it out alongside some other emerging Australian and NZ artists. Almost 60 thousand votes rocketed Emmi to the top of the leaderboard. For the first time, MTV offered $10,000 to the winning artist’s charity of choice, with Emmi’s being Telethon Perth and their efforts in raising money for medical research into children’s diseases and providing medical equipment to needing areas in WA.

Throw into the mix the news that Emmi’s tune “Blind Pig” has been chosen to appear in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them? Things are going brilliantly for this talented artist.
