Sydney's Step-Panther releases new track, announces debut LP and play some shows

Irrepressible Sydney trio Step-Panther have announced that they will release their self-titled debut album this November 4th on Speak N Spell through Inertia. In light of the announcement, the band have premiered a new track taken from the album, “No Fun”.

Produced by Simon Berkfinger (of Philadelphia Grand Jury) at Lonely Mountain Studios in Sydney and mixed in his personal studio Spree Sound in Berlin, ‘Step-Panther’ similarly encapsulates all that is sensationally schizophrenic about the band. A spirited shred-rock ‘n’ garage-pop force, Step-Panther’s influences run far and wide; they wrestle echoes of Jonathan Richman, Weezer, Black Lips, Pavement and many more.

Since forming at the tail-end of 2009, Step-Panther have played alongside Girls, The Greenhornes, Regurgitator, Die! Die! Die! and more, and completed East Coast tours with Big Scary, Cabins, and Eagle & The Worm. They were hand-picked by Triple J to open last year’s Come Together Festival at Luna Park, and also joined the Sydney leg of Ben Sherman’s 2011 Big British Sound event.

In the lead up to the album release, the band will head to play shows across New South Wales alongside The Vines, Bleeding Knees Club and Papa Vs Pretty.
