SXSW Music Interview: Julia Jacklin (Sydney) on her expectations and impressions of SXSW & plans beyond Austin!

The Aussie BBQ brought many a new audience to some great local artists who’d made the trip out to Austin for SXSW this year; packed in to Brush Square Park on the Friday of SXSW Music, you had rock, shoegaze, punk, indie pop, folk and more on show. One such artist who was garnering much attention and praise as the week had gone on was Julia Jacklin, the Sydney based songwriter who is just generating a good amount of momentum back home.

Jacklin sat down with Larry after her set at the The Aussie BBQ to chat about her SXSW (her first), working with her bandmates in a live capacity and returning home to tour after a planned week in New Orleans.

“I honestly just didn’t know what to expect.” she says of SXSW. “Everyone just made out like it was going to be the most insane week of my life; I was prepared for the apocalypse, pretty much! It’s been pretty chill compared to that, in a way.”
