One of the busier men at SXSW’s Film Festival this year was director PJ Raval, who was premiering his documentary Before You Know It and had his music video for Christeene (the drag persona of Austin artist Paul Soileau) “African Mayonnaise” in competition. He kindly took some time out of his busy schedule to talk about both the film – which chronicles a year in the lives of three LGBTQ seniors – and the music video, as well how he got to where he is today.
